# Suppressions and opt-outs

Prevent unsafe delivery to bounced, complained, or unsubscribed recipients.

## Block types

**Bounce**

A permanent provider failure. Eligible entries can be reviewed and removed.

**Complaint**

A spam complaint. Manual API removal is blocked pending deliverability review.

**Unsubscribe**

A recipient opt-out stored for the workspace and sender-domain scope.

## Send behavior

SendHQ checks normalized recipients before provider submission. Suppressed recipients block all messages. Recipient opt-outs block marketing messages for the applicable sender domain.

## Marketing unsubscribe

Marketing messages receive a signed link, a visible footer, and one-click headers when the message has one recipient. Transactional messages do not inherit marketing content.

## SES synchronization

An opt-out is saved in SendHQ before synchronization to the workspace's SES suppression context. A failed synchronization is reported explicitly and remains visible for retry.
